The oil pump is clogged or cannot get oil, which may have the following influences. 1. The circuit is not smooth. This is a good check. Use a multimeter or a test light to connect it to the plug. When the motor lights up, it means that there is electricity coming. If the light does not light up, it means that the circuit is faulty.
2. Circuit failure First check the oil pump relay and oil pump fuse. When the motor is turned on, the oil pump relay should be pulled in and there is a voltage output. If there is no voltage output, consider the oil pump relay or the line from the computer to the oil pump, or even the trip computer.
3. If there is electricity, it will be much simpler. Unplug the oil pump outlet pipe and turn on the motor. If there is oil out, check the oil pipe for blockage, and if there is no oil out, disassemble and inspect the oil pump.
4. If the oil pump is not blocked by foreign objects, it can be replaced directly! In addition, remove the oil pan, remove the oil pump, and clean the filter with gasoline

Oil pump disassembly inspection

One is to measure the end clearance between the oil pump gear and the pump cover.
The second is to measure the backlash between the oil pump gear and the pump body.

(1) End gap measurement method

Remove the end cover of the oil pump, place a steel ruler on the pump body along the center of the two gears, and then use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the gear and the steel ruler. If the end clearance exceeds the standard, the oil pump assembly should be replaced. You can also use the method of removing the liner to test, or sand the pump cover properly, but it should not be sanded too much, so that the gear can be rotated flexibly. If the gap cannot be adjusted, it is better to replace the pump with a new one.
(2) Backlash measurement method After removing the pump cover, select a gear, which must be opposite to the meshing teeth, then insert a suitable feeler gauge between the selected gear tooth tip and the pump body, and then turn the gear, Measure the clearance between the tip of each gear tooth and the pump body. The correct clearance should be 0.051-0.102mm. If the clearance exceeds the standard, the driven gear, the driven gear shaft and the driving gear, or the oil pump assembly can be replaced.
(3) Put the pump port of the oil pump into clean oil, turn the driving shaft of the oil pump by hand according to the steering during operation, and the oil should flow out from the oil port. Block the oil outlet with your hand and continue to rotate the oil pump, the fingers should feel pressure, and at the same time feel that the resistance of rotating the driving shaft increases significantly, until it stops or the oil is pressed out, it shows that the oil pump is in good technical condition.
